The Carrier Dome is a 50,000 seat multi-purpose domed stadium located on the campus of Syracuse University. Since its opening on September 20, 1980, the facility has hosted a wide variety of events. The facility serves as the home of competition site of Syracuse University's NCAA Division 1 teams in football, men's and women's basketball, and men's and women's lacrosse. The Dome has hosted NCAA championship tournament competitions in basketball lacrosse, and track and field. The Carrier Dome has staged major concerts by stars such as Billy Joel, The Rolling Stones, Garth Brooks, UT, The Who, Rod Stewart, and Genesis, among many others. Other major Carrier Dome events have included the Billy Graham Crusade, the Promis Keepers, the Moscow Circus and Olympic Champions on Ice. The Carrier Dome has hosted sectional, regiona, and New York State championship competitions in high school field band, field hockey, soccer, football, and track and field.
