The SCVB is one of only three marketing organizations (DMOs) in New York State and one of only 101 DMO’s in the world to receive accreditation from the Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP) for 2009-2013.
DMAP is an international accreditation program developed by the Washington, DC based Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI). In earning the DMAP accreditation, DMOs communicate to their community, buyers and potential visitors that their DMO has attained a significant measure of excellence.
DMAP accreditation standards cover a wide variety of topics including governance, finance, management, human resources, technology, visitor services, group services, sales, communications, membership, brand management, destination development, research/market intelligence, innovation and stakeholder relationships.
DMAP is an independent international accreditation body and a leader in defining quality and performance issues in destination marketing. DMAP has accredited DMOs throughout the United States (35 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico), Canada, and Europe. The Syracuse Convention & Visitors Bureau is a proud 6-time winner of Successful Meetings’ Pinnacle Award, which honors top meeting-destination support organizations. The Pinnacle is awarded by readers who are asked which bureaus and tourist boards have done an outstanding job during the previous year.
The facilities that we represent have also received many awards. For nine straight years, the esteemed Inner Circle Award has been bestowed upon the Oncenter Complex, placing it among the top 10 convention centers in the country. Readers of Association Meetings are polled on the performance of facilities to determine which are the best of the best within the association meetings industry.
The Oncenter Complex has also received the "Facilities 2007 Prime Site Awards of Excellence." Every year, the Facilities Media Group bestows the Prime Site Awards. This special designation voted on by industry members recognizes venue excellence. Venue Excellence is defined by both the physical edifice, structural dynamics of a building, as well as the level of technology of its sound, lighting, staging and most important the venue staff.
The only two other New York facilities are Madison Square Gardens and Times Union Center, Albany.
The Oncenter Complex is also the two-time winner of the Facilities and Destinations’ Prime Site Award. Based on voting by readers in the association meeting and trade-show planning industry, the Prime Site Award recognizes location convenience, facility attractiveness, technological capabilities, and the quality of staff, maintenance, and food and beverage services.
