Jazz, Wine and Art

Valid Through: Only July 23, 24, and 25, 2009

For years, Clinton Square in downtown Syracuse has rung with the sound of jazz in July, when the prestigious Jazz in the Square festival holds its annual three-day musical extravaganza.
This year, an entirely new dimension has been added, creating the first festival of its kind east of the Rockies - the "Northeast Jazz & Wine Festival".

Now they can enjoy great music while appreciating the fruit of the vine in the Wines of the World Clinton Square Pavilion, in wine courses guided by the area's finest wine experts. Wine tasters will be supporting the festival's designated charity as well - the festival will be making a donation to the regional chapter of the American Red Cross, whose volunteers will be helping with the event.

Two new jazz clubs have been created in the square for the occasion - the Mardi Gras Pavilion, featuring New Orleans-style jazz, and the World Beat Pavilion with sounds from the around the world. Fine cuisine from regional restaurants rounds out this unique event, filled with music, fun, food and drink for the whole family.

Northeast Jazz & Wine will continue to anchor "Syracuse Artsweek," a combined visual-and-performing arts festival that attracts an audience that exceeds 49,500. This "festival of festivals", a major summer cultural tourism attraction includes the Blue Rain Ecofest, the juried Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival, and a public art walk including public-art projects by and for children and visually projected art.
